In December of 1975 at St Joseph Parish Hall the Bras d'or and District Seniors and Pensioners Club was formed . The club is made up of the surrounding district of Bras D'or, Alder Point, Florence, Point Aconi, Millcreek, Georges River , Millville and  Boularderie .
    In 1977 our club purchased the British Canadian co-op in Bras D'or with Government grants, donations and a lot of volunteer hours by our members. In May 1977 our club was officially opened with great pride by Councilor Wesley Stubbert, President Marie Howley, the executive and club members. The club is a none profit organization, and our income is derived from members' dues , hall rentals dinners, dances,  ticket sales  ,cards games , Festival's and Fairs. The Club has a balanced budget and contingency fund for emergency's .
    The Bras D'or and District  Seniors Club was built on community spirit hard work and dedication by our parents and grandparents. They have left a legacy for us and future generations.
